Super skunky aroma ( why am I the only one getting that?), grassy and grainy, harsh malts. Not good. First sip is a decently bitter, biscuity and grainy. Mild sweetness, semi one-dimensional and more reminiscent of a Czech pale lager than a proper Marzen. Bah. AWS9 (228), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Crisp German hops balanced by barley and malt. Simple, yet intricate flavour. My kind of German beer. Niko100 (127), New York, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 13, 2009 It’s warm golden with a white head and the aroma has notes of malt and straw. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of malt, alcohol, straw, light fruit and the finish is dry. CanIHave4Beers (883), Des Moines, Iowa, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Pours a particularly pale color with a nice head that recedes after a bit. The aroma is bready and lightly nutty with some honey and fresh hay. The flavor is grainy with some cereal notes. Better flavors include a nuttiness and some mild but effective noble hop character. The beer is a tad sweet and a bit bready. GregClow (2496), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 8, 2009 Bottle from the LCBO. Light bright golden with a large white head. Aroma is quite grassy and grainy, a but of sugar, some alcohol as it warms. Full mouthfeel, a bit sticky. Flavour is quite sweet to start, followed by wet cereal and dried grass, hints of overripe fruit. I enjoyed this at first, when it was fresh from the fridge and still quite cold, but it becomes less pleasant as it warms. A pretty poor Oktoberfest/Märzen - reminds me more of a strong lager from the former Eastern bloc. Nisse666 (433), Göteborg, Sweden
