Light body and little taste-- I thought it was just the regular Hofbrau lager. What a disappointment. Were the original Oktoberfest/Marzen beers this light? No wonder the Hofbrau House in Munich caters to the tourists-- the locals probably wouldn’t drink this. Marsiblursi (1644), Göteborg, Sweden
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 27, 2007 (Bottle) Pours clear golden. Bready, light toasted malt and grassy, light funky herb like hops in the aroma. Also some tones of honey, flower nectar and a light fruitiness are also present. Malty flavour. Bread, grass, fruits and herbs in the flavour as well. Hints of sweet liquorice anf flowers. Light numbing and light salty and quite crisp mouthfeel. Some citric acid. Dry, bitter and a bit apple-ish alcohol finish. Medium bodied. puzzl (2620), New York, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Sep 27, 2007 Tannic, vegetal aroma. Fizzy white head on a pale (for a marzen) body. Balanced and drinkable, goes down super-easy. Definitely a case of the right beer at the right time. I’m sweating my ass off and the only thing that stopped me from finishing it 30 minutes ago was getting in a rating ;) ekstedt (2439), Göteborg, Sweden
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Sep 27, 2007 Bottle (50 cl) from Systembolaget. Clear deep golden with a medium fluffy head. Sweet malty and alcoholic, with low bitterness. Decent mouthfeel, part from that a really crappy Octoberfestbier. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 25, 2007 Pours a clear golden yellow with a frothy white head that diminishes quickly. This is easily the palest Oktoberfest that I’ve seen. I was hit by skunk the instant the beer hit the glass. Another green bottle, another skunked beer. After sitting a bit to "air out" I was able to pull out the scent of faint bready malt, but it was far more muted than I’ve grown accustomed to expect from the style. Light to medium-bodied and slightly grainy, the mouthfeel finishes fairly dry. Bready, astringent and dry with a slightly bitter, hopped finish. Not the best example of the style that you’ll find. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 25, 2007 The beer poured quite light from the tap. It showed yeast notes on the aroma and then even deeper yeast notes on the palate. The malt gave a big show on the finish. sblair (37), SD, California, USA

A bit disappointed because apparently they are making lighter and lighter oktoberfest beers. This is not by any stretch of the imagination a Marzen more like a Hellese and/or a Munchen Lager but it was called Oktoberfest. A good biscuity munchen lager but definitely NOT a marzen so im grading this on the marzen world
