Commercial Description:
The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

Tap @ House of Brews, NYC. Pours a light copper color with a good-sized off-white head. Aroma is mostly bread with slight malt characteristics. Taste is the same, dominated by the bread with a slight bit of malt sweetness to remind you this is an Oktoberfest. Not a spectacular beer, but I enjoyed it.

There is no difference between this beer than the orginial except the original doesn’t claim to be an oktoberfest! What a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I even argue with the bar owner that the keg must be mislabeld.

Bottle. Pours ambery w/ medium head. Some real graininess there but not the worlds greatest mass produced marzen

Bottle. Pours a warm golden in color with a good carb. head. There are lighter malts then I was expecting. Not as sweet as I would have liked. There was a good hop zestiness. Not my favorite ’fest’.

Ha, I rated this without looking at rating here and saw that lb4lb had a strikingly similar experience to mine. Poured very light yellow with an extremely soapy white head. The aroma had pale malt, skunk and light sweetness - very pale lager. Medium body with minor carbonation. The taste has minor light caramel (the only marzen aspect), skunk and some spice. The finish has a slickness that’s a bit sticky. This was not good. I could have sworn this was decent a few years back - either my palate is much better or this beer got much worse ~ probably somewhere in the middle. Thumbs down

Hmmm... mine came in a green bottle and was slightly skunky. I’m pretty sure somebody poured a heineken or red stripe into this hofbrau bottle, b/c that is exactly what it tasted like. Nothing like an Oktoberfest/Marzen I’ve had before.. Looks and smells like a pale lager. Some yeastiness, some light malt and faint bitterness, and while not offensive aside from the light skunking, this is a horrible example of the style and not worth getting at all.

Poured a golden yellow with a white fizzy head that did a quick disappearing act. It had a floral grassy taste with a touch of hoppy bitterness. This is a nice drinkable brew but I would hesitate to call it a true Octoberfest marzen. Perhaps a pilsner would be more like it. I really enjoy the HB Original much more than this one.

Bottle from BevMo. Medium golden color upon pouring. Lightly malty aroma with hints of grain. Smooth mouthfeel. Fairly bitter and grainy. I wouldn’t have guessed that this is an Oktoberfest. I would have thought it was a pils of some sort. Drinkable.
