Commercial Description:
The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

Poured a golden yellow with a white fizzy head that did a quick disappearing act. It had a floral grassy taste with a touch of hoppy bitterness. This is a nice drinkable brew but I would hesitate to call it a true Octoberfest marzen. Perhaps a pilsner would be more like it. I really enjoy the HB Original much more than this one.

Bottle from BevMo. Medium golden color upon pouring. Lightly malty aroma with hints of grain. Smooth mouthfeel. Fairly bitter and grainy. I wouldn’t have guessed that this is an Oktoberfest. I would have thought it was a pils of some sort. Drinkable.

Tap. This was a particularly bland beer, even a bit medicinal tasting. Nothing really jumped out to me as great. Much prefer the Pils...

VERY disappointed in this, from the tap at Oktoberfest in Glendale, WI. Pours straw-yellow (?????), with a rapidly diminishing head. At first I thought it was a mis-pour of regular Hofbrau. Aroma does have some caramel malt character, and the flavor is hinting of the same, but this is a poor rendition of a Marzen. Strange, considering the brewery.

Perhaps my opinion was slightly marred because it came in a green bottle, but overall it wasn’t half bad. The beer poured a light golden color. Aroma was light with some hay and grass. I was unimpressed by this beer from a brewery that generally makes beers I enjoy a whole lot more.

Pours a light straw color. Very pilsner on the aroma and some floral hints to it. Taste is much better than smell on this one. Has a decent malt character to it but that is about it. Very disappointed in this Oktoberfest.

12 oz. bottle: Pours a clear light gold with some white bubbles, initial aroma was faint skunk that disappeared thank God! (dumb green bottles), some pilsner malt and sweet fragrances, faint grass, hay and bread aromas, malt and bread taste with a small hop bite, not as tasty as Hofbrau’s Original beer, more of a pale pilsner, the Weihenstephaner Festbier (Octoberfest) is a pale version of a Octoberfest but has a lot of taste and body, I may try this Hofbrau in the 1/2 liter bottles which are brown or on draft for a sample that will not be skunky.
