Sampled from a 12 oz green bottle. The beer pours a pale golden color with a large white head. The aroma is sour malts with a mildly vegetal element. The flavor is sour malts with a sweet almost sugary undertone. The finish is tangy. Nothing special. mephisto (1144), Taiwan

But the flavor was nice, although a little like water. Magicdave6 (5558), London, Greater London, England
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 13, 2005 This is actually just a lager. Aroma is littlly lemon hops but mainly just lager. Taste has the similatr lemon though uninspiring in anyway. Dissapointing. Hugerat (432), somerville, Massachusetts, USA

ALL maerzen style beers are supposed to be high in malt, low in hop flavors. The spiciness is something that more creative brewers have added. That being said, Maerzen style beer is simply not that good. If I want something that is ridiculously sweet, I can drink Colt 45 or Private Stock (the Green Monster, as we call it up here in Boston). At least that doesn’t run me $26 a case. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 6, 2005 Gold brass body with a nice amount of orange. Head is thick, foamy, merengue-like, pretty stiff too. Aroma is nice, some banana ester, fruit malt, vegetable hops. Taste is flavorful, has a decent alcohol kick and bright hops. I’ll be honest, a lot about this beer reminds of a malt liquor. Lots of those barnyard/corn/hay/wet horse blanket flavors working here. I don’t agree that this is an Octoberfest, I don’t get that fall feeling or any of the spices. dwyerpg (2545), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 29, 2005 Looks nice. A little dry, but pretty tasty, and decent for an oktoberfest. A little more effor and uniqueness would certainly help this beer. mixamatt (427), San Francisco, California, USA
