Commercial Description:
The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives - it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock along every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and alcoholic content of 6.3% volume, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.

Upon pouring this beer I was immediately surprised and disappointed. The body is pale yellow and the head is eggshell white. I wonder if there isn’t more than one of these beers because mine came in a green bottle and had a bit of skunk smell to it. Anyway, head settles quickly, leaves some lace. Aroma is malty with hints of hops but more typical of a Pilsner style lager than an Oktoberfest. Aroma does have some toasty, sweet notes if you look for them. Flavor dies on the palate. Tastes like carbonated, hop flavored water with a bit of alcohol thrown in. Finishes better though; with a nice hoppy bitterness. It’s not a terrible beer but I would neither buy it again nor recommend it to a friend.

Bottled: Pale yellow coloured. Clear. Off white small head. Sweet, malty and dense fruity aroma. Flavour is light hopped. Crisp and easy to drink. Ends on a vague bitter note.

Medium brown color, light white head, but really no aroma to speak of. Taste is crisp, with hints of possibly mint. Nothing spectacular, I would rate this in the middle of the Octoberfest road.

Golden amber color with a decent white head. Malt aroma is mild, no hops as expected. Sweet malt flavor is good but lacks intensity. Finish is lacking. Overall this is an average Oktoberfest.

Bottled at the Whistlers Inn in Cinnaminson, New Jersey. OK OFest. Was a nice golden color. Had a slight cream taste to it that lingered through the whole beer. Little on the sweet side not enough on the malt side.

Bought in the 12 oz bottle only says Hofbrau Oktoberfest..so I suppose it is the same beer. Nice sweet malt aroma, with a tiouch of honey for some reason. Pretty average in appearance for a Marzen a deep gold with a small white head...nice carbonation and lacing. Flavour is a caramelly sweetness followed by a tangy bitter falavour. Pretty nice and smooth on the palate. Overall a nice Oktoberfest to drink in quantity..but no were near as good as Paulaner.

Very light color with a minimal head. Aroma is slightly stale with some sweet malt. Tastes a little off- slight skunkiness? Malty and slightly sweet with a mild bitterness in the background. Somewhat harsh finish.
