Looks fantastic, with a light gold hue that gives it the look of a truly wonderful beer. Unfortunately, looks can be deceiving. Strong carbonation and a sizeable although quickly vanishing head. Starts with a nice bitterness and has a firm mouthfeel. It would be a lovely easy drinking beer, were it not for a peculiar lingering aftertaste - somewhat sweet but a bit off. Like something went badly wrong somewhere in the brewing process. I checked the bottle, and the use by date was a fair way off, so it was not anything of that ilk. It was quite a disappointment, especially after having tried the lovely Hofbrau Dunkel. All in all it is not unpleasant, but I would not recommend going looking for it. Sweetish malty flavor with mild bitterness, toasted bread, grass and some fruity esters. OK everyday beer. KyotoLefty (1420), Kyoto, Japan
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2008 Aroma of sweet rich malts, hops, a touch of skunk, cereals. A bit fruity. Malt-centered flavor, fruity, rather sweet, just enough hops to make it work. Rich and nice. Decent dry, hoppy finish. Much better on tap at the source, but it did well traveling around the world.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 20, 2008 12 oz. bottle poured into pilsner glass. Yellow and effervescent with thick, white head, diminishing and foamy. Nose of corn and skunk, mild grain. Grainy base with fruity apple and mild bitter. Grassy notes and relatively dry. full carb in the mouth feel. Slightly skunky taste, but not too terribly bad. Very drinkable. I could chug this in Landfill’s face.
