This is as much about the experience as the beer. I had this at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, where the waiters carry around as many as a dozen liter steins of this stuff. That’s like 25 pounds of beer, and the glassware aint light either. A solid German helles.

This is a wonderful beer. It’s bright, somewhat pale, gold with a huge, creamy white head that shrinks slowly to leave a permanent small head & beautiful, even rings of lace down the glass. The aroma has honey, a lot of lightly toasted grain, hints of lemon, pine, sulphur, and even a little toffee. In taste, it’s mostly rather creamy malt with bread, lemon, pine, and very zesty. It’s mostly lightly sweet with a light, aromatic bitterness near the finish. It’s smooth & full-bodied, yet still crisp and refreshing. It’s wonderful with food and is incredibly drinkable.

Pale yellow with medium white head. Aroma of light yeast and sweet malt. Taste of lemon and sweet malt. Talcy dry, astringent finish. Average bland German fare.

Tasted 4/15/08. 355ml bottle. Filtered with a dull golden hue. Clinging white head. Grainy corny aromas. Typical nose. Light to medium bodied. Cereal and grainy flavors. Mildly tingling. Off dry palate. Sticky cloying finish. Mild toasty flavor. Slight notes of citrus. Sticky and tart. Decent.

Clear, golden yellow, 1 inch white fizz head, that lasts 5 minutes. slight lacing. Aroma is skunky and hoppy (pronounced) good. Mouthfeel is too runny like water. Flavor is medium bitter.

Sampled at a tasting, from bottle... not much special about this. Poured gold, no standout aroma. Flavor was weak, but was crisp and refreshing. More of a summertime chugging beer. Nice, but not impressive.
