Typical lager aroma and flavor, very true to style. Very refreshing, slightly sweet maltiness, no skunkiness, and you can actually taste the hops. Not exciting, but very drinkable. A light gold beer with a weak head. it tastes like a pilsner, pretty hoppy and fizzy. It is okay in comparison with similar beers from Czech Republic (like Staropramen and Chekvar), but this is not the best that Deutschland has to offer. Foxbush (460), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 25, 2007 This is the first beer of Christmas 2007. The Hofbrau is a very popular beer in Germany. The aroma is of hops. It does have a slight grassy taste and smell. The light yellow color and big frothy head invite you to dive in. This Munchen beer is consumed big time during October Fest. roder60 (1027), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 14, 2007 Initially very skunky out of the bottle but it eventually dissipated to light clean hops aroma. Head dissipated quickly also revealing very little lacing. Poured a very light golden color and a lot of carbonation. Flavor is a little lacking with a light dry bitterness, but definitely a step up from the American Macro Brews. Probably woudn’t be bad on a hot summer day or at a BBQ. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 8, 2007 Light gold, with a yeasty lager like, and slight hop aroma. Taste is lightly yeasty, malty, with a nice noticeable hop twang to it as well. Touch of tartness to it. Crisp carbonation and decent mouthfeel. Nothing too special, but for what it is, it seems well enough made. Decent, drinkable beer.
