Rated a little late, but this one was tasted at the ’Moon & Sixpence’ Oktoberfest ’04. The ’Royal brewer’s’ surprised me with what turned out to be a decent and quenching lager. Tasted in a large HB stein, the body stood a pale gold and the head foamed a short white cloud, before dying down to a lace. Haystack, grassy aroma and hints of honey in the nose. Body was light on but reasonable balance between sweet pale malt and floral hop bitterness, made for a sessionable München, great for the spirit of Oktoberfest in Australia.

Bottle. Golden color with a laced white head. A bready and grain aroma with a mild hint of the familiar German skunk. Easy on the palate and flavor (touch of sweetness), but it leaves an unfortunate aftertaste.

From the bottle this poured a golden-orange color with a fizzy white head. It’s got a light malt aroma, maybe a bit grassy. Good malt and hop balance in the taste. Crisp, clean finish.

Pretty good, but a bit more bitter than I thought. I suppose that the bartender told me that it was a lager...seemed more of an amber to me. Kind of winey... Quite drinkable, though.

Amber colored liquid that sits in my glass foaming. Bright carbonation that passes over my tongue sprightly. Clean soporifics that sneak past my tonsils, lingering. Slowly, subtly, you impress me with your flavor and depth.

Light orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is bready, and slightly sweet. A medium bodied helles. Malts are bready, fruity and sweet. No bitterness. Touch of grain and bread. Nice balance. Would be a good session beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Another one of Bavarian’s excellent beers! Nice golden color, flowery aroma and it goes down like water!
