Tasted 14/12/2007. 500ml bottle from Regional Wines and Spirits, Wellington. Pours a hazy dark amber, with ballooning airy light-tan head. Muted banana and clove on the nose, with a whiff of grainy bread. Fairly tart in the mouth, esters are even more subdued here, with the graainy aspect and a slightly winy aged note dominating. Just a hint of clove in the finish, and no detectable banana. Reasonable, if a little aged.

Dark mahogany with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of wheat, banana, clove and the flavour has notes of banana, clove and wheat. The overall impression is rather light, I had hoped for more roasted notes. 2411

Very dark brown color with some sediment. Good wheat aroma, some bubblegum, and just a hint of roasted malt. Flavor is full and sweet. There is a light citrus bite, as well as some banana, and a little bubblegum. This bottle might have been past its prime, but still a good beer.

50 cL bottle. Pours unfiltered brown with a light brown head. Citrus a wheaty banana aroma. Somewhat malty and slight caramelish on top of a classic wheat flavour. Ends with a rather persisting wheat banana note. Well brewed, just not my liking.

(Bottled) Hazy darkish brown with a small head. Dark-fruity, mildly toffee-wheaty-malty aroma. With dry banana hints. Dry, wheaty flavor with lots of banana esters and some roastiness. Medium-bodied, medium-carbonated, slightly foamy palate. A reasonably nice Dunkelweizen - quite similar to the regular one.

Sampled at Badgerben’s Cellar Reduction Night - wow, I forgot to ask where he got this bottle since it does not import into America . Pours a dark coppery gold brew with a decent off-white head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma of some multi-grain malt, wheat, a touch a yeast and plenty of banana esters. Taste is medium bodied, nicely carbonated with a flavors of multi-grain malt, yeast and banana bread. Finish is slightly fruity with a banana/orange aftertaste that goes down very smooth. Excellent.

Bottle (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Oktoberfest 2007) Colour is a very dark reddy brown, with a healthy head. Banana yeasty weizen aroma, but with a strange extra feature - I dont know what. Taste tells me the answer, black burnt treacle. Slightly flat on the palate, but a good interesting example of a weizen.
