Big yeast smell, minerally, earthy, dusty, etc. Quite nice aroma overall, lightly fruity and dry. Fresh tasting silky wet bread and mild to moderate hop presence, with some orange rind and wheat flavors. Dusty dough throughout. Pretty nice. Odeed (1674), Bakersfield, California, USA

The evening, the heat of Summer and in the shade of the mammoth chestnut tree, my wife and I got merrily pissed. We moved about a few times, from a table of Russian business men, to a table of Spanish backpackers and onto another with a lovely chap just out of Lebanon (just before the little border disagreement). It was World Cup time and a game was about to start. Our bier-wench was not her polite, smiling self as she had to keep looking for our whereabouts. Bloody trinkgeld!!! I asked for this in a litre stein but she denied me the privilege so "another round of ’house’ lagers and a side of Kellerbier, danke schön frau ober!" This produced so sparkling I swear it weren’t on lees. A beautiful, bright, Summery gold to match the afternoon and the aroma it exuded. Orange gold like the horizon at sunset with a standard issue half-pint of head that receded to a messy web of white and drabbed thick bubbly messages down the sides. The aroma has tropical fruit, pineapple, pear and the leafy clippings included. Also a nice touch of malt peaks out, fresh, from underneath. In the mouth it is a little less absorbing as the nose. More malt here, grainy, not gritty though, very clean and leaning on sweet though the back end dries out considerably. Body is light - filtered?, hope not... - and the carbonation lively though its finish is supple (phew!!!). Nice length of fruit and grain to which a little bitterness is perceived. It excelled far above the other beers of this Staatbrauraei. Very nice, very easy to drink and very well balanced. Up against the other Kellerbiers of my trip, though, this lacked that true, strengthening, original character. Still, a bloody good drop, and I can’t remember who played the match let alone who won. The bier-wench did eventually get her tip!!! (Hofbräu Sommer hefetrüb)

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 17, 2008 draught, HB Miami Beach Hazy pale with a huge pillowy head. The aroma is straw, fresh wet grass with limey, herbal accents. Spritzy body wth a lemony character and slightly husky pale malts, herbal hops. Moderate bitterness and an off-dry finish. Malts could be sweeter, smoother. Beershine (2710), Where Climate Suits My Clothes, Vietnam

Lovely hazy golden with gigantic thick foamy head that lasts a long time, leaving lace. Aromatic as freshly cut herbs. Chive and other grasses. Prickly mouthfeel. Flavors are citrusy and pithy, a nice crisp hop bite in the end but finishes quickly, cleanly making it a good summer quaffer. Another solid one from the brewery. johndoughty (2156), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England
