| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 11, 2009 Enjoyed on tap at Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. The aroma is very disappointing. I have had it on occasions when one does get the characteristic scents of clove and a touch of banana. However, I have had it at other points in which there have been aromas of autolysing yeast and other unpleasant and unappealing smells. There is some improvement in the taste area, but not much. Hefeweizen is a straightforward style, without much in the way malt complexity and very little hops. However, this was a disappointment. I suppose it is ok as a summer thirst quencher, but little else. decaturstevo (1997), decatur, Tennessee, USA
