Draft at Pittsburgh location. Served in a huge dimpled mug. Copper colored with an impressively thick light-tan head. Subtle aroma of caramel and toasted malts. Tastes as it smells - lightly sweet caramel upfront with some roasty/toasty graininess, a bit of nuttiness, and a touch of smoke at the end. A tad drying. Easy drinking all the way to the bottom of the mug.

Draught at the BrewPub: Aroma of malts, slight caramel, and slight bread. Poured amber/copper in color with a small to medium-sized, dense, off-white head that lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of malts, light roasting, nuts, and a hint of caramel. Medium body. Slightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Malty, nutty finish is a tad dry.

Brewed in the Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh, served in the beer garden in huge dimple mug. Amber brown with a nice off white foam head. Flavorful malts, hops and grains help create the perfect mood for drinking. Very refreshing smooth taste and great paring with traditional German food, the atmosphere makes it special. Visit and enjoy!

Brewed in the USA...... On tap at the Hofbrauhaus !! Pours brown in color with a medium off white head. Aroma of German malts, bread, caramel and grains. Taste is much of the same with the addition of some toffee notes. Mouthfeel is lite bodied, smooth and refreshing to drink. This is a simple beer, so drink tons of it. :)

This poured a dark dark amber color with an off white head. Aroma was sweet malts and a bit roasted as well. Flavor is a bit roasted, sweet and a bit nutty too. Nothing special but ok

An OK American attempt at a dunkel. Aroma was nice...all roasted malt with a graininess to it. Pour was a dark amber/light brown with tons of rising bubbles and a nice near tan 2 finger head on top.Taste was good.. Strongly carbonated and heavy in caramel malt with a mouth drying yet wet aftertaste (if that makes sense). Not outstanding but solid.

Draught @ Hofbräuhaus Pittsburgh: This one poured a fairly clear, reddish dark amber color. There was a small off-white head on it and it left no lacing. The aroma had notes of roasted grains and caramel malts. It was just a bit light. The beer had a medium body. It had a somewhat roasty taste to it, along with some slightly sweet caramel malts and a mild hop finish. Very easy drinking.
