Commercial Description:

Sampled at Noogfest High 5. The body was dark copper, nearly brown with a light khaki head. Smells of caramel and apples. I also got some notes of bread crust and peanuts. The taste was sweet bubblegum and caramel. Good.

500 mL bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a very dark red color with a medium head. Average head retention and fair lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee, light toast, banana, citrus. Taste is toasted malts, banana, faint grassy hops, caramel and a touch of alcohol. Medium bodied, crisp. Fairly pleasant.

Round and malty nose of dark sugar and soft molassas twang with a touch of flowery wild honey. This doppelbock enters the palate on a polished and envoloping malt body that never veers towards cloying. Senses are left with sense of dark brown multigrain bread. Noble hop spice serves only to balance as a smokey sensation finishes. Carbonation gives lift but never becomes filling. A wonderful balance between old world technique and new world precision. Very clean and begging for roasted meats. 88

Thanks to bu11zeye for this bottle. This beer pours a nice dark brown color. Nose is oddly metallic, possibly aluminum. Alcohol is present as well. The malt sweetness is quite nice and reminds me of a smoky cola in the taste. The lingering flavor is dark caramel and I’m enjoying how this one stays with me.
