Commercial Description:

On tap at the Bavarian Lodge, Lisle, IL., served in a stem glass. The pour was a mahogany color with a foamy, light tan head that diminished at a fair pace, and left some streaky, but clinging lace. The aroma was immediately sweet with a moderate malt nose and caramel. The flavor identified these notes more as malt, caramel and the sweetness of dark fruit and brown sugar. The texture was a little syrupy, but all in all, a very flavorful bock.

Draft @ Redlight. Rich deep ruby red color with a firm tan head and ultiimately nice lacing. Big rich caramel-toffee nose with a wee hint of smoke. Flavor features sweet malts, a bit of herbal hop and just a touch metallic. Enough melanoidin to bring out a raisiny character. Lingering candied fruit finish. Rich and a bit heavy, filling.

Bottle. Dark brown with ruby edges. Short beige head. Aroma is strong malt and caramel, toasted bread, and spice. Taste is malty and rather sweet with more caramel, notes, sweet, chewy malts, light fruit, hint of brown sugar and dark bready flavors. Body is medium to medium-full while having a light carbonation feel. Ends with more caramel, chewy malt, light yeast, dark bread, fruit and brown sugar. Very nice stuff!

draft @ redlight redlight. 1st rate!! Caramelly, molasses, very malty nose, with hints of spicy noble hops. Pours a rich amber red with a thick white head. Huge malty flavor, somewhat floral, with loads of caramelized malts, spicy hops, sweet with a balancing bitterness. Very easy to drink. According to the importer its 7.3% abv.

On tap at the Oldsmar Tap House. Pours deep slightly hazy amber with tan head. The aroma is rich yummy caramelized malts and crystal malts. Nice. The taste is rich and caramel goodness cut by some carbonation tingle of grainy malts. Midway I get a brief note of floral hops. This brew starts thick and caramel sweet but manages to even out some and approach being refreshing into the finish.
