hopscotch (4661), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Mar 2, 2008 Bottle... Clear amber lager with a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Excellent retention. Stale perspiration and poultry drippings waft up from my glass along with a minor note of toffee... pretty offensive, really. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Almost perfectly balanced, but leans just a whisper on the sweet side. Lifeless, uninspired and bland. Short, crisp, clean finish. acrdz (4475), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jan 7, 2008 Bottle from the Sam’s Club set. Filtered rusty orange colored body with essentially no head. Sweet adjunct nose of corn and candied straw. Flavor has some plasticy pumpkin and rye bread along with the semi-bitter toasted corn flavor that’s most dominant. JPDIPSO (4335), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Oct 28, 2005 Pure amber colored body with a better than expected cream colored head and nice lace. Lots of caramel aromas abound. Hints of grass and silage in the background. Wood sap also sneaks into the nose. Dry caramel and mild stomach acid flavors. The first sip make me want to reach for a pepcid. A pecan nut pith flavor really seems to fit. I was ready to call all these relabeled Berghoff brews. But this isn’t that good. A bad lager meets nut brown ale brew. Magicdave6 (4086), London, Greater London, England Feb 1, 2008 Bottle from gift pack from open all hours. Aroma is caramel malts, bready and notes of chocolate. Taste is similar, very malty and not much balancing the sweetness, but a nice enough brew, just not done with much thinking. bu11zeye (3887), Frisco, Texas, USA Jun 10, 2005 (Bottle) Pours an amber body with a thin off-white head. Caramel malt aroma. Flavor of roasted malt and caramel.
