I think it is much better than either, and sorely underrated here. Mine tasted more like a hoppy amber. The head is actually better than the beer, which fades too quickly but I found this quite enjoyable (esp. given the supposed style(s)). mikeben (344), Naperville, Illinois, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 19, 2007 More flavorful than the lager, crisp well malted beer. Proper marzen. Amber color with lasting head, decent aroma and well rounded finish. kimcgolf (835), Dacula, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 28, 2006 Good amber color on the pour, tannish head that disspipated quickly. maklty aroma with a trouvch of hops. I had this with a pizza (ok, maybe not a pure taste test), but thought it went well. I could see drinking several of these some night, and give it a good rating. Most drinkable. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 17, 2008 Bottle: Poured with an orange-amber hue, lightly active, with a thin head. The aroma is quite malty, like a malt shake even. Drinks with a similar grainy basis, but finishes with a clean hoppy tang. I find this an underrated example, true to the style. Good with my schnitzel tonight. (#3348, 3/1/2008) Jedsbrew (465), Rhineland, Missouri, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 11, 2005 Amber colored with a modest head and a mild toasty malt aroma. Light to medium bodied, caramel and toffee flavor, touch of salt and sourness, with a smooth slightly bitter finish. Seemed similar to their Berghoff Oktoberfest but I’m not really convinced it’s the same beer. TheRimmer (483), Florida, USA

Lovely medley of heavy raisins and cereal in the taste. medium to light bodied. I was surprised this was done so well. Evster64 (106), Kempner, Texas, USA
