Commercial Description:
Drink this delicious nut brown ale to help us celebrate 10 years of brewing. We delved into Paul Holgate’s old recipe book to formulate our anniversary ale, brewed with roasted macadamia nuts and six different malts for a rich palate interweaved with an assertive hop character.

Bottle. Pours nut brown with 3 cm head that rapidly fades to just a coating. Almost no visible remaining carbonation. Aroma is earthy with nuts, lots of chocolate and some cigar box smells. The nuts smell more like hazelnuts to me. Smooth and malty with some chewy resiny bitterness lurking at the end. Tastes less nutty than it smells.

Bottle. Pours coppery brown with a thin beige head that doesn’t last long. The nuts are fairly noticeable in the aroma as well as caramel, chocolate, toasty malt and some resiny hops. Flavour is pretty much the same as the aroma except the macadamia nuts are not so obvious. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel with very mild carbonation and a longish bitter finish. Brown ales not being my favourite style, I was quite pleased and impressed by this interesting interpretation. Very nice.

Bottle. Nicely aromatic. The nose has nuts and caramel. Flavour is not long, and it’s mostly sweet, with only light bitterness. Medium body, and silky in the palate. Copper colour, and fizzy white head.

330ml bottle. Dark copper colour with a wispy thin tannish head. Roasted malt and nut aromas come through with a burnt nut and malt flavour hiding a hint of sweetness. Well balanced and very moreish.

Poured a mahogany brown body with red tinges and a poor head. Some caramel, hints of chocolate and a touch of smoke in the aroma. Low in carbonation, burnt notes again in the taste,it was smooth and drank ok just thought it was a litlle lifeless.

Draught at The Local Taphouse, Sydney. Pours nut brown with a medium beige head. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, nuts and caramel. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Smooth and bitter to the finish. This is a really good interpretation of the style. A stand up beer on the day.

A fairly full flavoured brown ale. Soft milk chocolate on the nose along with a fruity hint. Chocolate a little more subdued but certainly more bitter than the nose suggests, and some roast with mild astringency comes through. There’s also a minerally and confectionary note that I can’t really place but enjoyable nevertheless.
