can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Feb 21, 2009 Rich and sweet, but much hoppier than I expected it to be! I could really get comfortable with this one. Brown with a frothy cream colored head. Sweet malt, faint alcohol notes, and lots of hops on top. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Jan 2, 2009 Draught at the brewpub. Dark brown with a small beige head that leaves tight lace rings. Super hoppy aroma, not unlike their IPAs, with an underlying malt sweetness. A bit light in the body for style, almost like a smaller ASA. Also pretty dry, with big hop flavor and bitterness. Reminds me a bit of Bigfoot actually, could almost be a darker DIPA. The brown sugar adds a touch of flavor and if I’m correct, could be why the body is a bit light. Very drinkable, and you’ll feel it quick.
