Pours with a small, off-white head covering a cloudy yellow body. Lots of lacing left. Aroma of apples, spice, and earthiness. Taste is of apples, spice, lemons and some dirt. Tiny, harsh bubbles. A good Saison. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA May 9, 2008 Updated: May 27, 2008Draught at the brewpub. Opaque gold color with almost no head. Spicy and yeast aroma with plenty of cinnamon and orange. The flavor starts out with some sweetness that has plenty of spice and orange as well. Finishes dry and clean with some lingering spice, and just a hint of sticky citrus. Medium bodied. I’m getting to like saison, and this is a nice drinkable beer. Rerate: coming back to this again, it seems quite sweet and orange flavored in comparison with a classic example of the style like Dupont, almost into witbier territory, but I liked it no less because of it. Just enough spice to cut the orange and sweetness.
