Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA May 1, 2009 (hand bottle form irishboy)brown body with no head.the aroma is root beer, caramel malts, and brown sugar.flavor is much of the same.its a bock beer alright. IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Apr 28, 2009 Growler from Enniskillen. Nose is light bananas, caramel, a spicy nutmeg note, and raisins. Cloudt cherry brown with a big beige head. Flavor is spiciy with some light bitterness, bananas, and sweetness. Finish has a touch of bitter with some caramelly sweetness contrasting. Pretty respectable weizenbock, but as my friends know I really don’t like them so I can only give it a 4.1 as the nose is a hair light. Enniskillen when are you getting me a second growler? pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA Apr 28, 2009 Lightly foggy brown, thin off white head. Aroma is very fruity, light alcohol, light cinnamon. Taste is plums, malt, spice, light alcohol,
can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Feb 21, 2009 Like their hefe - sweet banana, lemon, and clove, but with some rich darker maltiness. Almost smoky - like a blend between their hefe and the J. Interesting, sweeter and more aproachable than most weizenbocks. BMan1113VR (2757), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Jul 15, 2008 On tap at the brewery. Pours a cloudy dark brown with an off-white head and lots of lacing. Aroma of clove, burnt malts, caramel and toast. Tastes of clover, banana and caramel. A bit mouthcoating. Nothing special for the style, but the alcohol is very, very well hidden. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA May 9, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. Cloudy brown color with a purple tinge and small head. Big banana and clove aroma with a caramel and sweet maltiness under it. The mouthfeel is really nice: thick and really creamy with lower carbonation, almost like sipping cream. It keeps the components of a good dunkelweizen and intensifies them without any noticeable alcohol. Nice caramel and tough of spice; maybe a little too intense in the banana though.
