KnN (714), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Jan 14, 2009 On tap at the brew pub in Goleta. pours a nice deep brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma was roasted malt, caramel, molasses, coffee. Nice and complex. Flavor was a bit sweet, but was balanced nicely by the roasted malt. A bit of coffee bitterness and a hint of chocolate. Good stout. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Nov 20, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Thick black color with a lasting tan head. Mostly milk chocolate in the aroma, with an underlying dark roast. The flavor has plenty of sweet cocoa, with some darker chocolate bitterness and subtle hop bite as well. Substantial body for the strength, and snappy carbonation. Quite tasty stout, but a bit on the sweet side to be super drinkable. Another solid beer in the Hollister Brew Co. portfolio.
