SamGamgee (591), Santa Cruz, California, USA May 9, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. Dark gold color with a sticky head. Really fresh hoppy aroma with plenty of pine and grapefruit. The flavor is pretty dry and hoppy with a definite pine leaning quality. Medium body. Quite clean and drinkable. The dryness mixes with an up-front hoppiness that demands your attention. Well done. badlizard (1524), San Diego, California, USA Mar 22, 2008 On tap at Pizza Port. Clear golden amber with a creamy white head. Grapefruit and pine aroma. Earthy pine and herb taste with a mild bitterness. Vac (2253), San Diego, California, USA Nov 15, 2007 On tap at O’briens. Pours a slightly cloudy golden amber body topped by a thin to medium thick, off-white head with some lacing. It’s slighlty sweet and malty with a nice hoppy balance consisting of pine and grapefruit notes as well as some apricot. Medium bodied, smooth and a touch dry. SDbruboy (1822), San Diego, California, USA Nov 15, 2007 On draft at O’Briens. Arrived a clear deep amber with a small off-white head. Rich caramel and toasty malts in the aroma, with bold hops to balance, piney, fruity and citrus. Flavor of bitter, astringent fruits, lemon, tangerine and red grapefruit, malts are biscuity and balanced (surprisingly with none of the caramel detected in the aroma), leading to an herby and astringent finish. Medium to full body and gentle carbonation. bu11zeye (3780), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 19, 2007 (Draught) Pours a clear golden amber body with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of citrus, caramel, and light pine. Flavor of grapefruit/pine hops and caramel malt with a moderately bitter finish.
