Holsten Export (UK Keg)

Draught @ The East India Arms. Typical fizzy yellow beer, golden with a fluffy white head. Grainy and slightly sweet with mild hops. Nothing special but served it’s purpose and was better than oranje-bum on the day.

Brought from Kent, England by my frend; Labeled Holsten Pils 440ml can; ABV 5.0% BB 06SEP08; My friend who is doing work for the brewery said it was this beer! Nose of grassy hops, ,light caramelly sweetness, and grain; clear gold with a big white head; flavor is light sweetness, light hop bitterness, and some caramel malt; finish is lightly bitter.

On cask at Bishop of Norwich. Orange brown colour. Prickly. Taste of grapefruit, grainy, fruits. Nice hoppy texture. Fair enough.

Canned. Golden with a large foam. Aromas are corn, grain and almost green apple with some vanilla and corn. Flavours are gritty grain with fatty butter and light citrus. Quite dry on the finish.

4.7% Can from Morrisons.Yellow lager. Alcohol very present in the aroma. Flavour is quite sweet with some harsh alcohol. Seems cheap and rushed.

Keg at the Kings Head, Hythe. A fairly basic lager; gold with a white head and light carbonation; rather sour aroma; fruity and creamy in the mouth, but quite acidic; and a predominantly acidic finish.

Quite good, fairly nice for a lager. Light amber in colour and fairly carbonated. In the same mould as Artois, but more refreshing. Probably in my top 510 beers of all time!

Canned. A pale gold coloured lager with a thin off-white coloured head. The aroma is skunky and corny with some buttery nasty unpleasantness. The taste is sickly and corny. A thin lager lackiing quality.
