May 5, 2008 Half litre can from LCBO. Dark chocolate appearance with off-white foamy head. Some spiciness and decent body but not much. Bordering on stale, skunky import. Not what I was expecting at all.

Apr 30, 2008 0.5l can. Pours an opaque brown with a solid frothy head. Kind of looks like a coke. Smell is pleasant, with notes of malt and hops. Palate is smooth. Taste is strong and very malty. Notes of nuts, and somewhat sweet.

Apr 21, 2008 Canette de 500 ml achetée chez ANBL (Dieppe, N-B). Arôme: Odeur de mélasse avec une pointe d’épices. Apparence: La couleur est brune avec une moyenne densité de bulle. Présence d’un mince col mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de caramel fruité avec une pointe d’alcool. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture huileuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Légère présence d’alcool en arrière goût. (Rating #1632)

Mar 30, 2008 Not what I expected , I was looking forward to a crisp German lager but inside the can was brown cola colored ale. Not a very powerful ale. But I seen Holsten and German so I was disipointed to get dark beer becuase im not in the mood right now. A little bit sweet and creamy , slight amounts of chocolate perhaps. Choclate on taste and aroma. I wanted German not British

I tried this beer on January 3, 2008 after purchasing from a Toronto LCBO outlet. The beer poured a translucent dark brown colour with a thin tan coloured head. The aroma was malty with some sweet and spicy tones. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with high carbonation. The flavour was dry, malty, a bit spicy, and a little hoppy finish.

Dec 20, 2007 I was served this at a party in a green glass, so I’m not so sure about the appearance. I think it was a dark amber/brown with a decent head. Tasted like molasses & canned extract that had passed its best before several years prior had been used in brewing this, as well as some industrial strength hops or hop extract. Extremely carbonated (served from a can). Surprisingly dark for your typical canned German beer, but the skunky noble hops really sink it.

Nov 27, 2007 Dark, strong beer, sweet and full. Good as an occasional beer with a suitable food. I keep getting it. Quite a nice beer from a foreign macrobrewery. A quality beer to enjoy as a cheap drink.

Nov 18, 2007 Canned. Dark brown, rich head. Sweet, toasty and burnt. Medium-ful bodied with molasses, butter, coffee and salt. Medium bitterness. Boldly flavourful.
