Dark brown-ruby color, creamy brownish head, lace. Roasted malts, coffee and burnt sugar in the aroma. Roasted malty, suprisingly quite thin hiding alcohol well. Slightly bitter, roasted aftertaste. Average, clean bock (dobbelbock?) but not very interesting. Rastacouere (5565), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 23, 2003 Very malty aroma from this dark brownish beer with a huge white head that fades out fast to a reasonable one-finger height. Nothing is particularly memorable besides the slightly warming feeling of the alcohol kick at middle-mouth.(sweet ordinary caramelic malt) A very decent balance is part of the meeting, but the shadow of a complex beer isn't. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 5, 2004 Very dark brown with a nice bubbly off white head that falls back to a thin lace. Out of the can it smelled quite tinny and unpleasant. After I left it for a few minutes though this seemed to dissipate leaving a nice sweet caramel and vanilla smell. Aroma has faint amounts of toasted malt as well. Flavour is better than I expected. Sweet roastiness with the tiniest hint of fruit. Barely perceptible hops. Quite thin-bodied, which was a surprise. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 18, 2007 This pours a deep mahogany body with a lofty, sustained tan head. Very sweet, malty aroma - caramel with a splash of milk chocolate. It tastes of lightly roasted malts, a sweetness tempered by the arrival of a mild herbal bitterness near to the finish. At 7% ABV, a dangerously sessionable beer.
