Aroma of grass and apples, with a strong alcohol note. Flavour starts malty and slightly fruity, with some dry hoppiness and boozy warmth in the finish. Not awful, but nothing I’ll go out of my way to drink again. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 1/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 22, 2005 Mild malt aroma with some light spicy hops and some bubblegum. Hazy straw coloured body is inappropriate for style with shy white head that diminishes immediately to ring. Some bubblegum flavours, some fruitiness with light peppery hop spiciness in the finish. Rather sweet and a bit sticky. Medium-light body though somewhat still due to very low carbonation. Not very exciting and way out of style. Can (LCBO - Nov. 2004). glip (21), Kitchener, Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 27, 2005 Unimpressive appearance, head vanished quickly. Malty sweetness did a decent job of covering the alcohol. Not much in the way of hop aromas. It’d pass this over if you’re looking for a good example of this style. Upgrade to Faxe 10 if you want to get pissed. redmosquito (172), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 6, 2005 It’s so rare that you come accross a maibock on the shelf, let alone in January. This one poured a golden yellow color with a thin head that left some lacing. Nice yeasty bock aroma with some good malt and little or no hops. The flavor is good, bitter then breadlike maltiness, and then an odd finish, dry and corn bread like. Overall , this is a nice surprise, even if it doesn’t pack the maltiness of other maibocks that I’ve tried. pintbypint (1021), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 18, 2004 500ml can. Poured golden and slightly hazy. Noisy, creamy white head. Hops in the aroma, and a small whiff of apple. Creamy tasting, malty, traces of caramel. Gives a tingly mouthfeel. 5000 (2625), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 30, 2004 Bottle pours pale golden, large white pancake batter like head, spotty lacing, with soft carbonation. Pale malts, sweet grass, and light fruit on the nose. Grassy flavor, fairly sweet, malty as well. Good body, smooth mouthfeel. Light sweet finish, simple, clean, smooth malty trailer. Against the grain, but I find it quite enjoyable!

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2004 Clean white foam leaves some lace atop a pale and very clear golden lager. Bread and barley sugar aroma with a slight hint of pine. Medium bodied with rich clean malt with just a little sappy caramel, hops are in there but not up front. Really really clean and well crafted maibock. caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Nov 3, 2004 Golden with light head. Some hops in the aroma. Sweet malt flavor. Not really offensive, but not a beer I’d choose to drink if something else was availble, and in this case there is. Another Holsten drain pour.
