Gold body with a small foamy white head that leaves some lace. Like fredthecat says, hay predominates in the aroma along with a whisper of honey and a bit of an earthiness to it, and also a bit boozy. Flavor is hay and if an autumn breeze had a taste, this beer describes it along with a boozy note. I’d say the mouth feel is an acquired taste so this is where this beer scores best. Sweet malt and hop aftertaste and a relatively clean finish. Considering it has an octane of 7, for the money it is good value for getting polluted. fredthecat (192), Canada

Had some weird taste I can’t put my finger on, or was it I drank this beer to late in the evening. Either way some citrus with metallic taste...off! scottfenn (3), Windsor, Ontario, Canada does not count | 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 19, 2009 Golden color, and fizzy head when poured. Strong alcohol content, can taste more of an alcohol flavor than many other beers. It was drinkable though, although would never be my first choice. KingofCastle (202), London, Ontario, Canada

The higher alcohol content just makes it taste boozey and awful. Higher quality beers can up their alcohol content without worry but Holsten can not. I poured the last last half down the sink as I just could not stomach this awful swill any longer. No quality malts here. Gethinbeer (1001), Nova Scotia, Canada

Strong alcohol content which was fine, but tasted pretty malty with a bit of sweetness. Not horrible, but not a favorite.
