Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle.
Originally brewed in 1999 as Celebration to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the founding of The Brewery. Due to popular demand within Joseph holt managed Houses 1849 continues to be bottled in addition to the other bottled ales. 1849 is a very fresh, hoppy ale brewed in a very traditional way with a pleasant subtle after taste.

Bottle from one of my local supermarkets. Dark amber/brown with light brown head. A little bland and average. Nothing to really make me go back to this again.

Bottle 500ml. from Waitrose, Christchurch Dark amber with beige head. Not much to the aroma other than light malt. Slight berry flavour with caramel. Sweet rather than bitter finish. Pretty average beer.

Bottle, LLH, Crosby. Poured a deep reddy brown. Carbonation was horrible and the slight metallic tang to the flavour did it no favours either. Bitter finish. A chore to drink and verging on drain pour material. How the hell did this win a gold medal? I’m yet to drink a decent Holt’s brew.....
