on tap at the holy cow: dont know what this guy is talking about sonora brewing co, it was brewed right on premis at sahara and lv blvd., i knew the brewmaster and several people who had worked there and looked forward to this seasonal every year. this was one of my favorite pumpkin beers out there. typical nutmeg, clovey nose, orange-brown in color. a bit thin at times and sweet but pretty easy to drink with good pumpkin character. not sure if real pumpkin was used or just pumpkin pie spice. this ones gone so dont try to find it.

As I understand it, this beer is brewed by Sonora Brewing Co. for the “Papago Brewery” and also I believe for Holy Cow in Las Vegas.

I’m not a real fan of “Pumpkin” beers, but as I sat there listening to a new local band called “Powerstump”, just banging away some great head rocking tunes, and for an “Old Coot” like me who is more inclined to Perry Como and Tony Bennett, I was totally impressed with their music, just goes to show you that you can teach and “Old Pooch” new tricks, look forward to seeing them again.

Well I digress, now back to the beer. The head prodigious in size setting on a limpid amber body, creamy in its texture with a vellum like sheet of lace covering the glass. Sweet pumpkin aroma with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, scrumptious this nose and a real treat, start is “ambrosial” pun intended, nicely malted with the top middling in its feel to the palate. Finish is mellow in its carbonation, the hops powerful in their spicy bite, quite dry aftertaste, and I must say this is the first “pumpkin” beer I’ve tasted that I really like, and hopefully it will be back next year as it was quite a treat.
