Black colour, small light brown head. The flavour is quite sweet, has lots of fresh coffee, with sugar almost. Some barley bitterness, get a bit sour in the finish. Also some tannin bitterness, probably from the pomegranate. riversideAK (2685), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2008 Bottle from daknole. The nose is rather tart with noes of roast and dark malt. Pours a shade of black. The initialy flavor is roasty and dark with some tartness from the pom juice. Dry roasty finish. Interesting beer. tjthresh (1765), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2008 Pours black with some sort of purple hues. There was a head when I poured it, but I looked away for a second and it was gone. There is a lot of roast in the nose and there is the sweet tinge of pomegranate juice. The flavor is good. The juice fits in really well with the roast. Kind or oily on the palate and a dry finish. tronraner (1913), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 14, 2008 Bottle, thanks to lithy. Pours black with very small tan head. The aroma is on the fruity side with berries and pomegranate, with notes of espresso, dark chocolate, wet wood, and anise. The flavor is roasted sourness with that strong fruit element agaiin. Then come notes of chocolate and tannin. Finish is spice, berries, and toasted wood. Interesting beer. lithy (1650), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 14, 2008 Bottle thanks to TURDFERGUSON and daknole. Thick black pour with a thin almost nonexistant tan head that leaves nothing. Roasted malt aroma, bitter dark chocolate bark and a light fruitiness more like berries than pomegranate. Taste is heavy, bitter earthy coffee beans with a light sweetness. WisconsinBeer (521), St Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 14, 2008 Bottle. Thanks to Daknole for the trade. Pours a deep black, with a medium espresso colored head, some lacing. Head dissipates rapidly. First impression of this beer after the first sip was drain pour. After a few more sips, the complexity started to come out. Chocolate malts lead into a bitter/sour fruity dry flavor, something like pomegranate but could also be mistaken for cranberry. Fizzy on the palate. Finish is lingering and dry. BlackForestCO (820), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 14, 2008 Updated: Feb 11, 2009Bottle thanks to ucusty, thanks man. Poured a deep brown color with a thick beige head that slowly settled to a thick layer. Aroma of chocolate, some light roast and a hint of coffee, a bit of fruitiness, and some caramel. Smooth, lightly tart entry with some undertones of fruit transition into a moderately chocolaty flavor with some undertones of roasted malt and coffee. Finishes with some lightly bitter coffee, a bit of fruit, and a hint of roast. Moderate carbonation and decent mouthfeel. Solid, interesting imperial stout.
