Commercial Description:
Dark chocolate barley and roasted grains paired with American hops and Belgian yeast create a mouthful of flavors, but wait thats not all, add a hint of pomegranate juice and what you have here is not your run of the mill fruit beer. You've hit the mother load. At 8%ABV this ale is suitablefor aging 1-2 years. Brewed by Florida Beer Co for Gordash Brewing.

Bottle at Cbus 11. Pours dark brown nearly black with a smallish tan colored head. Aroma is yeast, chocolate, light roast. Flavor is chocolate, yeast, dark fruits, light toast. Palate is medium bodied, a lttle thin for my taste, medium carbonation, finsihed bitter. Pretty decent stuff, a little more body I would say this is damn good.

I did not think that this was an imperial stout when I first tried it; this is good and bad. Bad in that the palate is a lot thinner than I would expect from an impy stout. Good in the fact that you really don’t notice the higher ABV at all and it is quite drinkable. Thin roasted flavor with a little pomegranate acidity and astringency on the finish. Not bad, all in all.

12oz bottle thanks to masonjer...dark cola brown pour with reddish-brown edges and a thin light brown head... deeply roasted aroma and some subtle tart fruit in the background....lots or roasted malt and smoke in the flavor along with chocolate and a hint of tart cranberry/pom in the finish. decent mouthfeel but didn’t hold everything together well.

12oz bottle from Sam’s, Durham. Looks and pours like many other beers in the category. Clearly what’s distinct is the combination of strong Belgian yeasts and the oft-mentioned dollop of pomegranate juice. These are evident in the fairly pungent nose and certainly in the flavor. When combined with the fairly prominent roasts, the result isn’t as well integrated as it should be, ending up with vegetal flavors clashing a bit with dry, sharp flavors. At moments it’s an interesting clash, but not super impressive.

Pours a medium, black body with foamy but somewhat thin beige head. Bitter chocolate and some mild fruity notes on the nose. The flavor is bitter coffee and chocolate, with an underlying grapefruit juice taste that takes over the finish. A little astringant at first which makes it even more reminiscent of grapefruit juice.

Bottle. Poured a dark chocolate body with thin head. Aroma is light fruit - pomegranate, light choclate. Flavor is light choclate, hops and fruit. The chocolate tones come out more near the end witht he fruit showing more at the beginning of each sip.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, soy sauce, vanilla, and cream. Poured black in color with a small brown head that diminished rather quickly. Opaque. Medium sweet flavor. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, soy sauce, vanilla, cream, alcohol, and a hint of fruit. Medium body. Dry texture. Soft carbonation. Roasty, malty, lightly dry finish.

Bottle compliments of daknole. Dark black pour with tan ring of small bubbles around the edge. Big aroma of dark roasted coffee and dusty chocolate. Pleasant flavour of more chocolate and coffee, definitely some dark fruits in the middle and then finishes like chocolate milk. Not an Impy stout that’s going to knock you over but a great drink.
