danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Jun 14, 2009 Bottle via trade with dchmela. Pours a velvety brown-black with a thin brown head. Nose is pomegranate, oak, and malt. Sweet candy sugars, pomegranate, coffee. Mouth is fairly flat. Taste like alcoholic juice. I really like it. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 14, 2009 Bottle sampled at Noog Four-0 5/31/08: Pours a mostly opaque black with a thin, wispy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of dry, roasty earthy dark chocolate malts and some toasty grainy notes. Body starts sweet and sugary with a hint of soy sauce and light fruits before a drier, thinner earthy dark chocolate finish. An ok imperial stout but needs more body and balance. zathrus13 (1288), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA Jun 11, 2009 Updated: Jun 12, 2009Pours black, with a light brown head. Aroma is fruit, coffee, and chocolate. Flavor is malt, chocolate, fruit, and coffee. Different, but certainly likable. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Jun 9, 2009 Pours a almost black brown with a thin tan head that dissipates as quickly as it formed. Aroma is a bit different of tart fruit, roasted malt, and slight coffee. Flavor, ehhhhh, well, needless to say, it took a lot not to pour this. I don’t believe in pouring something that took so much effort to create, but it was hard going down. Definitely not my style. chandler0201 (341), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 8, 2009 Black with tan head. Aroma of cherries and dark chocolate and coffee. Lots of fruit is in the flavor with chocolate. Very tasty, reminded me of dessert. msante79 (782), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Jun 8, 2009 12oz bottle thanks to thecheeseman. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is of roasted malt, dark fruits, dark chocolate and coffee. Flavor is of roasted malt, bitter coffee, chocolate and some fruit. Mouthfeel is a little thin but is smooth and creamy on the palate. Like the flavor but is just a little to thin. Tasty ale though. WVHouseofBeer (339), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA Jun 6, 2009 Updated: Jul 6, 2009Decent aroma of dark fruit and roasted malt. Poured an opaque black with a tan head that didn’t last, left no lacing. Unique fruity flavors with coffee and some dark chocolate as well. My only problem with this beer is that it was too thin for an Imperial Stout. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA May 26, 2009 12 oz bottle from ucusty. Thanks David! Near black with a quickly diminishing tan head. Big coffee nose, very roasty and a solid hit of fruit. (Pomegranate? Hard to tell. Maybe.) Big coffee flavor, another hit of indeterminate fruit. Roasty bitterness, the pomegranate shows at the tail end - tangy and sweet - and disappears for the lingering baking chocolate finish. Interesting and pretty damn tasty.
