This is an interesting one. Pour is nice; black with thin beige head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, lactic acid, tobacco-but milder than expected. Flavor is interesting, very sweet at first, maybe too much so. Then is has the flavor of a lacto-stout; sour and milky. Finish is chocolate, sweet, and cocoa. It is definitely a different flavored stout. I do like it, but it’s a bit too sweet and sour for me.

Jim Mack’s Pre-Beer Wars Gathering. Pours a brown black body with a tan head. Chewy hints of roasted malt, licorice, chocolate malt sweet but still creamy. A hint of cherry. I enjoyed it.

Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige to light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, dark chocolate. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and heavy bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20081129]

Wow, an interesting beer. Nice, full roasty chocolate coffee, with just a hint of fruity sourness that keeps you interested. My only quibble were that it was a bit thin on the mouth. The pomegranate was very subtle; tt easily could have been overdone. Nice beer.

Deep black pour with brownish head. The pomegranate juice was more subtle than expected and provides a nice souring fruity twinge before a bittering and toasty round of chocolate mocha and coffee stomp all over the palate. Drinkable and layered with multiple complexities, and all blended together nicely. Drinkability belies its strength, certainly worth a try.

Bottle. Moderate aromas of grain, toasted and mild coffee for the malt, light perfume for the hops, light earth for the yeast, and background notes of berry, wood and charcoal. Head is frothy, light brown with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown, almost black. Flavor is moderately sweet and lightly acidic to start then finishes lightly bitter, a bit sour and has a long lingering sweet aftertaste. Palate is medium, watery but a touch syrupy and has a lively carbonation. Aside from tasting a bit artificially sweetened, an okay Imperial Stout, but yet a little out of balance.

Slight roast with ok chocolate. There’s a bit of a sour note here that definitely detracts.

Bottle with Bman1113vr. Pours black with a one finger brown head. Smelled bitter, with notes of chocolate, coffee, alcohol and smoke. The taste was smoky, chocolate, nicotine, and dirt. Creamy mouthfeel.
