| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 21, 2008 Thanks Santa. Black body, thin tan head. Nose is lots of rasty malt, some cocoa, an odd slightly plasticy (fruity) aspect. Flavor is sweet berry, lots of roast, a strange burnt aspect. Just odd from the pomegranate. Its overly bitter.. Strange stuff. tjthresh (1774), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2008 Pours black with some sort of purple hues. There was a head when I poured it, but I looked away for a second and it was gone. There is a lot of roast in the nose and there is the sweet tinge of pomegranate juice. The flavor is good. The juice fits in really well with the roast. Kind or oily on the palate and a dry finish. JCB (1768), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 11, 2008 12oz bottle from Sam’s, Durham. Looks and pours like many other beers in the category. Clearly what’s distinct is the combination of strong Belgian yeasts and the oft-mentioned dollop of pomegranate juice. These are evident in the fairly pungent nose and certainly in the flavor. When combined with the fairly prominent roasts, the result isn’t as well integrated as it should be, ending up with vegetal flavors clashing a bit with dry, sharp flavors. At moments it’s an interesting clash, but not super impressive. lithy (1725), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 14, 2008 Bottle thanks to TURDFERGUSON and daknole. Thick black pour with a thin almost nonexistant tan head that leaves nothing. Roasted malt aroma, bitter dark chocolate bark and a light fruitiness more like berries than pomegranate. Taste is heavy, bitter earthy coffee beans with a light sweetness. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 10, 2009 Bottle: Dark brown with a thin tan head. Roasty aroma with coffee and chocolate. Rather sweet. Tastes roasty, but sweet. Lots of dark chocolate plus a light fruity edge. Must be the pomme... Remains smooth and silky. Thanks Mcbackus. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 25, 2008 Bottle from Daniel. Thanks. Not really sure what to say about this one. Pours out a nice black color with a good sized tan head on it. Smell is fruity as shit, full of pomegranate and thats really about it. I didnt pick up alot of the roasted malts and coffee / chocolate flavors that I have become accustomed to. Taste was sweet, pretty fruity, somewhat thin and left me questioning if this is really an imperial stout. Different, but that isnt to say that different is always good. Perhaps something that may become thicker with age and lose some of that raspberry jelly fake smell / taste. Thanks Daniel. This was an ultra rare gem pulled from the farthest reaches of the cellar. shp555 (1686), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
