| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark brown, letting a good amount of light through. Unacceptable for an impy as I’ve learned from Ethan. Nose is roasty and fruity--no doubt from the pomegranate juice. Flavor is a weird mix of pomegranate juice, roasted malts and chocolate. Kind of a thin mouthfeel and body and just kinda weird. Tastes like your run of the mill fruit beer with some cocoa added. The belgian yeast character seems out of place in this beer, but isn’t that noticeable overall. Meh. hellbilly (1566), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2008 tasted with the phoenix crew. provided, yet again, by sparky27... holy hell! this is an imperial stout?! pours dark brown with a small tannish head. aroma is ashy, cream, coffee, quite tart and possibly smoky. the flavor is... odd... loads of ash with some coffee, cream and dry, roasty grain. the finish is like biting into a pomegranite seed... a bit earthy and dry. light to medium body with prickly carbonation. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a thick and creamy head. Aromas are not very full... a bit of chocolate and roasty malt, some fruit that is almost like blueberries more than pomegranate. and some cream. Pomegranate comes through very strongly in the flavor, however... kind of that bitter flavor that is almost like cranberries or something. Even though they are advertising that there is just a hint of it, it does quite a number covering the other flavors... You get hints of roasted malt and chocolate, but it’s more like they peek through around the edges than anything else. This is pretty decent for a fruit beer, but somewhat lacking for an imperial stout. Thanks Greg! yobdoog (1543), Woodridge NY, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 27, 2009 Super Dark with minimal lighter fluffy head. Aroma is sweet and roasty with hints of fruit. Taste is sweet and creamy and I wouldn’t pick out pom right away but it is slightly tart coming through the coffee. Pretty good overall.
