Aroma is roasted grain, dry coffee, and just the slightest hint of berry. Taste is dry coffee, roasted grain, and chocolate malt. Dry roasty aftertaste. Really solid, but more of a foreign stout. Can’t wait for it to be in bottle. Cavie (1430), Fort Worth, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2009 On tap at the Ye Olde Falconers pub in Fort Lauderdale. Poured a dark black color with a one finger brown head. The aroma was very smoky, with fruity notes present. The flavor tasted smoky, with tobacco, burned malt, roasted malt and some fruit that I couldn’t identify. This was a very interesting beer that quite possibly had too much going on to be very good. fredandboboflo (1418), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 27, 2009 Thanks to ucusty. Bottle, 2008. Aroma burnt with notes of cocoa and alcohol. Flavor continues along the same lines with a lot of sweetness up front, alcoholic sort of sweetness, a mild acidity (the pomegranate?), and then an earthy, toasty, bitter finish. Rather thin for the style, also a bit chalky. No other recent ratings seem to note alcohol here, but I kept getting it... Aside from the finish, the beer was largely brash. Overall, ok. drowland (1410), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 5, 2009 Aroma is all coffee with a hint of fruity sweetness that is almost unidentifiable if you don’t know the beer. The taste is a big fruity sweet malt stout with definite fruit sweetness added, but not necessarily noted as pomegranate. Not too bad, but not amaaazing. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

At 1st the chocolate slams into you and after that its little brother, the pommegrante comes by and kicks you some more.Well balanced beer, getting all the flavors intended. Also there was some vinous grape notes, wine like here. The finish had some tanginess to it.Well done. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 1, 2008 I’m baffled. It didn’t really seem like the best idea. This black ale has a small head. It has lots of roasted coffee in the aroma and a bit of tangy pom. The acidity of the pomegranate compliments the roasted malt flavors PERFECTLY. Seriously fantastic tasting. I need more. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 5, 2008 Pours attractive deep brown with a dark tan head. The nose is sweet and chocolate malt. The flavor has this influence, along with a cloying sweetness that makes it just odd.
