12-oz. Thanks, IBrew2or3! Pours opaque black with no head, lace, or legs. Chocolate and ripe pomegranate on the nose. Smells great in a sweet way. Creamy body well above medium. Chocolate, roast, pomegranate, and a bit of coffee. Mild, slightly acetic finish that lingers into robust coffee. Very intriguing and nice, easy-drinking beer.

Poured up into a stout tulip glass from the tap at the Oldsmar Tap House. Pours dark dark brown with frothy brown head and spotty lacing. Nice big inviting aroma with dark roasted malts, burnt malts, sweet rich maltiness and chocolate malts. Really nice smell of each successive draw from the glass. The taste seems a bit thin for the style. I get highly roasted malts to burnt malts, some coffee and chocolate with faint dark fruity esters. There is a fruity pomegranate fruit tartness that runs into the finish.

Bottle from daknole. The nose is rather tart with noes of roast and dark malt. Pours a shade of black. The initialy flavor is roasty and dark with some tartness from the pom juice. Dry roasty finish. Interesting beer.

(Rating #2337)

Deep dark brown-black with decent tan head that dissipates fast. Rich roasty aroma, with earth, cola, coffee, and cheerful red grape fruitiness and roosty spice. Smooth mouthfeel, soft, decent carbonation levels. Unique and fun panoply of flavors. lots of fruit tartness on the sides of the tongue and back of the palate. A lot like chocolate-covered fruits. Long-lingering roasted malt. Strange but amusing combination of flavors, fun and pleasant.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, soy sauce, vanilla, and cream. Poured black in color with a small brown head that diminished rather quickly. Opaque. Medium sweet flavor. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, soy sauce, vanilla, cream, alcohol, and a hint of fruit. Medium body. Dry texture. Soft carbonation. Roasty, malty, lightly dry finish.

Nice surprise here. I didn’t really like the regular Holy Mackeral Golden, so I suppose I didn’t think would be very good, either. Plus, "Belgian style stout with pomegranate" seems to be a nice way of saying "Trainwreck". Well, this was really good - the stout-y flavors are there, but the pomegranate seems to play off the natural fruit notes that would be there anyway. Coffee notes mix well with fruity notes, and some subtle red wine notes brighten up the finish. Really nice, I hope to see this in bottles. At the Raleigh WBF.

The aroma is smokey with vinegar, salt water, BBQ, leaves, and coffee. The appearance is dark brown with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma and bad. The palate is thick. I am so confused by this oddest of beers.
