Big chocolate and roast aroma. Flavor matches, with a fruity finish, presumably from the pomegranate and Belgian yeast strain. A bit acrid - probably the acidity from all the roasted malts forming an unholy union with the tartness of the fruit. Odd, but not bad. Tone down the acidity and this could be pretty nice. blutt59 (2186), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 9, 2008 Bottle from dchmela knocks off Florida for me. Nice dirty stout nose, roasty with some grit and burned char, only faint chocolate, light coffee, and side fruit (which we’ll go ahead and call pomegranate, though there’s some generic berry tartness). Noisy dark brown head on a pitch black pour. Lightly metallic and very sticky with not-so-subtle coffee acidity. Still nice and dry, light touch of mocha, light bitterness. Pomegranate stronger than expected, as if someone had just squeezed one into an otherwise normal stout. Roast overtones remain but the chocolate and its friends left the party long ago. Lightish body for an 8% stout. Appreciate the effort, especially the fruit pairing (I love blueberry and cherry stouts), but ends up being too syrupy and off-putting in feel. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 19, 2008 The aroma is fairly roasty with chocolate and dark fruit notes and you expect a fairly typical stout experience until you sip...the flavor offers what you expect with a slightly tart fruity twist. It also yields blueberries, chocolate, roasted malt and hints of coffee. It’s just different enough to not quite be your typical stout, but to still offer the things I like in a stout while adding an interesting and uncommon element. I like it. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Very dark beer with a head like a Coke. It poured a dark brown color and then very noisily fizzed away to nothing. Dark roasted grain nose with some chocolate and berry tones. I’m not sure what pomegranites smell like, but it could smell like them. Lots of roasted grains in the flavor with burnt sugar, overly sweetened coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, and a grape/sour cherry flavor that I assume is the pomegranite. It gets almost smokey/ashen as it warms. Very flavorful beer SSSteve (2107), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
