Charcoal black pour with a thin white quickly dissipating off-white head - not much lace. Aroma starts off fruity and sweet but as it settles it adds a bit of complexity to the mix - hard to put my finger on it - perhaps it is the pomegranates - with some chicory thrown in there. Flavor has some of the same elements with the chicory really coming through strong. Also find some hints of pipe tobacco and very bitter chocolate and a wee bit of soy sauce. Mouthfeel is creamy enough - not by Imperial Stout standards - but hey, it’s from Florida. Reminds me of a British version of a Imp Stout. badgerben (3600), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 23, 2009 Black color with no head. Strong aroma of chocolate and fruit. More of both of those in the flavor. I wouldn’t say it is distinctly a pomegranate quality, but certainly fruity. Light roasted malt. Boutip (2364), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Secret Santa: Poured a pitch black color ale with a bubbly dark head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma is somewhat vinous with distinctive pomegranate juice which provides a weird offset to the roasted malt. Taste is also a weird mix between some roasted malt with some notes of pomegranate and no discernable hops. Full body with medium to low carbonation and no distinctive alcohol. A very interesting and unique experiment which I am glad I tried but not necessarily something I would seek out on a regular basis. 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 21, 2008 2008. Pours to a black body with a thin tan head. The aroma is like a German chocolate cake with a raspberry jam. The flavor has a dry roasted chocolate and German chocolate cake thing. Subtle fruit. The palate is extremely light and thin. Falls off the tongue. Very good but the palate doesn’t fit. Bov (5451), Bienne, Switzerland

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Very dark beer with a head like a Coke. It poured a dark brown color and then very noisily fizzed away to nothing. Dark roasted grain nose with some chocolate and berry tones. I’m not sure what pomegranites smell like, but it could smell like them. Lots of roasted grains in the flavor with burnt sugar, overly sweetened coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, and a grape/sour cherry flavor that I assume is the pomegranite. It gets almost smokey/ashen as it warms. Very flavorful beer bierkoning (6043), La Tropica, Netherlands
