Was able to rouse up a nice small light brown head but that dropped quickly. Yup, it,s black alright. Faint nose of chocolate and roast with other faint fruity notes. Body is medium, sorta thin for an Impy. Lightly coating on the palate. Soft flavors of roast, coffee, chocolate, light fruitiness and berryish notes, hint of licorice, and somewhat sweet malts. Lightly sweet finish, dark chocolate with a little tang, hmmmm. Props to oldstylecubfan for the bottle! TaktikMTL (2786), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada

Aroma – A very deep resignation of dark malts with a light fruitiness to the nose also.
Appearance – Dark Black in Color, Thin head and clear.
Flavor – A very good Dark black ale with a good malt and hops build the addition of the fruit was excellent. This was a well brewed beer and added to the night .
Palate – Great Mouthfeel, Nice texture with a Good dry finish.
Overall – A fun beer to drink these can and will catch you off guard if you are not ready. The high alcohol can be tricky this was a great beer.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 15, 2008 Nice fruit in the aroma with a underlying stoutiness. Ripe, rich fruit up front in the flavor but falls into a muddy, peanuty grossness with a watery, milky finish. Blech. I like the fruit though. Beerman6686 (1292), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 20, 2008 Pours a black color with hardly any head at all. Aroma is of black patent malts, a bit of roastiness, and some fruit. Flavor is a weak watery roasted flavor with that hint of pomegranite in there. This is a perfect example of ho not very good beers get good ratings because they are a stout. beernbourbon (302), chicago, Illinois, USA

Aroma is chocolate, coffee, lactic acid, tobacco-but milder than expected. Flavor is interesting, very sweet at first, maybe too much so. Then is has the flavor of a lacto-stout; sour and milky. Finish is chocolate, sweet, and cocoa. It is definitely a different flavored stout. I do like it, but it’s a bit too sweet and sour for me.
