tasted with the phoenix crew. provided, yet again, by sparky27... holy hell! this is an imperial stout?! pours dark brown with a small tannish head. aroma is ashy, cream, coffee, quite tart and possibly smoky. the flavor is... odd... loads of ash with some coffee, cream and dry, roasty grain. the finish is like biting into a pomegranite seed... a bit earthy and dry. light to medium body with prickly carbonation.

12oz. from Daknole. Poured into mug. Pour is mightnight black with small brown head. Aromas of roasted malts, cherries, and a slight hop note. Flavor is fiarly balanced with chocolate, roasted malts, some sour fruit, and finishing rather thin. A very different beer than what I thought it would be from the description. I liked this one alot.

2008 Bottle - Thanks to Ibrew2or3 - Pours a deep brown with very little ash tan head...aroma is chocolatey malt, mature dark fruit..flavour is fairly dry, a bit of carob and slightly astringent...heavy carbonation, good flavour on the front that keeps up, finishes a bit thin but with nice smoke...didn’t get any pom, but oh well...fun beer!...

Courtesy of Daknole. Pours black with a thin brown head. Smells sicky sweet, astringent and somewhat fruity. Tastes smokey, sweet, fruity and unlike i few of the other reviews i do taste the pomagranite which gives the beer red wine cabernet like taste oaky woody.

Bonus bottle courtesy of weeheavysd! Pours so-brown-it’s-black with a minimal tan head. Aroma is dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate and berry. Flavor is very ROAST forward with a hint of pomegranate in the finish. Drinks more like a porter than the Impy it’s classified as. Interesting.

Aroma is all coffee with a hint of fruity sweetness that is almost unidentifiable if you don’t know the beer. The taste is a big fruity sweet malt stout with definite fruit sweetness added, but not necessarily noted as pomegranate. Not too bad, but not amaaazing.

Bottle from Dakine, thanks Dak. Pours a dark black with a medium to large tan head that falls off quickly. Sweet berry notes, chocolate syrup, roast. Thin to medium bodied. Starts off with a huge rush of sweetness, that was most unexpected. The pomegranate comes through big time here and is quite interesting. Finishes with a nice roast bitterness.
