Draft @ Redlight. Pours an almost opaque black. Aroma is deliciously roasted and warm. Hints of coffee, chocolate milk, a wisp of smoke. Flavor is intensely roasted with a touch of sweetness on the finish. Very nice beer.

12oz bottle scored in a trade with daknole. Thanks Dakine! Pours an opaque black with a thin white head, only slightly thick with light carbonation. Aroma is very unique for an ’imperial stout’, very floral, fruity, black pepper, chocolate and spice. Flavor is similar, starts out with sweet roasted malts, then nuts and pepper come in, the pomegranate can be sensed at the end with a juicy like fruitiness. Finish is chalky, dry and medium bodied. Very pleasant and extremely unique. One of a kind actually. Doesn’t hold up well next to other imperials, but that’s because it’s a type of stout unique to itself.

Had on draft at Redlight. It is my very humble oppinion that this beer was served WAY too cold...Beautiful pour in my glass. Dark brown with a nice creamy head. My very first impression was not good...So I let it warm up. It definitely got better. Nice roasted coffee and chocolate taste with just enough of a bitter sweetness added by the pomegranate presence. I would have liked it a bit sweeter, but this was very good. There was a slight "burnt" after taste that kind of was a detractor for me.

Very good stout on draft at OTH. Holy Mackerel does it again with an a great stout. Flavors are diverse with the hint of pomegranate evident. Other flavors are malty and roasted.

On tap at Oldsmar Tap House. Pours a pitch black color, with tons of fluffy white head, and very thick, creamy lacing. Roasted malts hit the nose first, and esters of fruit (hard to tell what) and distant hops. Roasted nutty flavors, coffee, and some malty pomegranate. Peach and hops finish things out. Bitter touch, easy to drink. Body is full but still easy enough to digest. Wouldn’t call this a textbook imperial stout, but a very nice addition to the style.

bottle poured into a snifter.... this is a nice beer.... unique and very enjoyable, which is a surprise to me coming from this contract brewer. a semi-transparent black pour which enters the glass much darker with a nice big tan head... it eventually settles down to a thin lacing which lasts throughout. some aromas of sweet malts, a touch of chocolate and a bit of yeast. medium body that carries some deeper notes of coffee, chocolate, dark fruit and a sweeter malt character... upon the finish the tart and lovely pomegranate juice comes forward to round off a unique twisted imperial stout. the juice adds a great element to this beer that one does not normally experience in this category... its on the border of being sour but develops into a more robust and layered experience.... very nice.

Draft @ redlight redlight. Pours black with a huge tan head (about 2 fingers), leaves a nice lacing on the glass. On the nose wonderful chocolate, coffee, roastiness with a sweet hint of vanilla. Just a wonderful aroma. In the mouth chocolate upfront unfolds to a semi-sweet maltiness in the middle, then roast malt melds with the faint taste of berries and then a satisfying hop bitterness finishes. All of this is rounded out by a slight acidity (which hints of berries, could this be the pom juice?) that goes well with the roasty+hop bitter ending. Wonderful!
