19-Jan-08 (Draft: Connoisseur’s Session, 2008 Great Alaskan Beer and Barley Wine Festival in Anchorage, AK) Aromas of dark fruits, light roast and spicy yeast, but also something reminiscent of root beer. On the palate, core flavors of Belgian sugar and spicy, fruity yeast are joined by wheaty malts, brown sugar, dark molasses, dates and dark fruits, with a light hop character and soft bitterness. Medium-full bodied and medium in carbonation, but the spice helps keep the palate from weighing down. Opaque and dark brown in color, and initially capped by a small, tan head that settles to a wide ring.

Pours a deep hazy brown color with an off white head. Aroma is malty, lots of banana and cloves. Flavor is malty very clovey, with some banana and raisins.
