Commercial Description:
No, there isn’t any birch syrup in the brew. A Best Bitter with the bold, citrus-like flavors of Centennial and Cascade hops. Each keg is dry-hopped to give the additional nose that will satisfy any hop-head. This is very much a “session beer,” with a an ABV of around 4.5%. It is truly the signature beer of the brewmaster.

Sobe bottle filled from the brewery. Orange/gold with an off white head. Smooth bitter hop aroma with a roasted malt base. Bitterness that is balanced with a sweet malty flavor. Medium body, average carbonation and a long bitter finish.

Burnt toast malts, kinda peppery. Hoppy, dry finish that goes on and on. Good session beer. Bonus point to overall for the reused Sobe bottle.

22-Jan-08 (Draft: Duggan’s Waterfront Pub in Homer, AK) Very light and grainy malts and mild English hop aromas greet the nose, and though the beer has a nice overall aroma, there’s not enough of it. On the palate, the pale malt backbone isn’t grainy or caramely. Hops are moderately bitter, but are at the forefront and have a bright finish. Light-medium body, but wonderfully crisp and clean with a long-lasting bitterness. Medium carbonation. Golden in color and fairly hazy. An off-white head pours to half an inch before settling to a think layer, leaving lots of patchy lace on the glass. My first beer from this brewery and it’s a nice one.

On tap at Humpy’s. Deep golden color with a sparse white head. The aroma was mostly orange peel hoppiness. Flavors of orange peel, pine, grapefruit and some peach. This was a good session beer and went well with the halibut burger.

Floral hop bouquet, citrus/grapefruit. Nice bitterness, lots of acidic grapefruit. Looks like thats all I wrote for this one. A nice beer, but nothing special.

Into a growler at the brewery then into my belly, 7/7/05: Hazy orange-yellow with a quality foam top. Soapy, citric nose. Tart citric bitterness presides with a sharp sting. This went down great as I watched the surf on Homer Spit. Great session beer.

Fresh from the keg at Homer Brewing Co. Beer pours a medium golden with a thin white head. Floral, hoppy aroma. Well rounded taste with substantial hoppiness kicking in after a second or two. Tastes almost like a mild IPA, with a similar hop tickling in the nose as it goes down. Nice.
