This has an interesting fruity flavor, lots of prunes and dark fruits, and the beer is sweet but not cloying. Earthy, rich malts complement the beer beautifully, with just a light touch of roast. Fruity, spicy, earthy, malty nose is enchanting; I could sniff this beer all night, but there are more beers to try in the waning minutes of this festival. Full-bodied and medium in carbonation with a soft, lush mouthfeel. Medium-brown and fairly clear in appearance. The light-tan head settles to a wide ring. Overall, this is one of the better barley wines at this festival, and there is a lot of stiff competition. Solid! OldGrowth (1409), North Carolina, USA

Coffee, soy, grapefruit. Dark brown color. No head. Bitter flavor, Like aroma, but much more intense. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, bittersweet finish. Really liked the flavor, which made the nose more disappointing. Drinkable BW. jsquire (2104), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

Murky dark brown with a foamy tan head. Lots of alcohol, grapefruit rind and malty sweet. It tastes like it has all the right parts for a great barely wine but they don't seem to be in the right places. Still a good beer.
