Commercial Description:
Our prize-winning mead - Gold medal award winner in the Speciality Category at the 2006 International Mead Festival in Boulder, Colorado. A semi sweet mead (approx 20g/l residual sugar) with rooibos, honeybush tea, cinnamon and apple. The herbs provide a smooth structure to the mead with a lingering honey aftertaste. Ideally served at 12-14 degrees Celsius, in a large red wine glass to allow development of the nose. A good stand alone sundowner, a well matched partner to spicy dishes and stir fries, game and poultry and a companion to desserts and coffees.

This is better than Iqhilika’s hot mead. This is a still liquid, with a yellow color that reminded me of a urine sample. The nose has lots of raw honey, with some perfume and cinnimon heat that was not necessarily pleasant. I got the requisite honey sweetness, with flowers, cinnimon heat, some citrus and wet wood in the taste. Really not my kind of mead. Thanks to thedm and Hotstuff for sharing.

This corked and waxed bottled mead from a bottle shop poured a very small sized head of medium sized clear colored bubbles that were fully diminished and left behind a transparent uncarbonated yellow colored body and a thin oily lacing. The aroma was hot with spicy cinnamon and herbal notes. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at its soft herbal finish. The flavor contained notes of sweet honey dry and herbal mix. I was braced for a flavor shock after the aroma but then the OK taste did not match it. It was better than I was expecting. An OK brew just nothing special.

Bottle courtesy of thedm and hotstuff: Pale yellow pour, almost water like. Tart, herbal honey nose with some medicianl notes. Spiced honey, anise flavors almost tastes like a honey cough drop.

Pours golden, no head. Big fruit nose, alcohol, and honey. The flavor is sweet, spices, somewhat floral, fruit (prodominately apples), honey, with a nice alcohol burn. Nicely done.

Golden color with a big herbal aroma that really captivates the senses - honey, berries, apples, aand assorted natural spices. Flavor is a nice apple-honey combo with a pleasant mouthfeel and aftertaste. Bits of citrus in there too. Nice mead, but pricey!

Poured a clear honey color. The aroma was of honey with herbal notes (imagine that). The flavor was of honey and flowers with a medium body and decent warming sensation.

Bottle that my girlfriend brought home from the Meadery. Pours a yellow color with great clarity. The aroma is huge cinnamon notes, with a honeyish sweetness and a floral fruitiness. The mouthfeel is very smooth and well rounded. Tons of herbal character come through in the flavor. Chamomile, ginseng, honey, cinnamon, English breakfast tea and even more. A quaffable and complex Mead.
