Honeyrun Elderberry Honeywine

bottle - Pours purple with an aroma of berries, honey, and some alcohol. It tastes very sweet and full of honey with the elderberries also a heavy presence. It’s sweet to the point of being cloying. If it’s like a port as the commercial description says, think a very sweet ruby port. It doesn’t have a port’s alcohol level that better supports that much sugar though. Overall it’s alright, but yeah, definitely don’t go for it if you don’t want sweet.

Bottle provided by a friend. This was crazy, the stuff stuck to the inside of the bottle and coated it in a noxious glue way where the inside was laced and gnarly. Pours like purple molassesy grape juice. Nose is sweet and cloying and yes as obguthr writes similar but obviously far more boozy than manischevitz. Taste is sweet, honey berry fruity, cloying mes.

Berry and plum aroma that also smells a bit like armpit sweat, but only barely worth mentioning. Purple color of cheap wine. It tastes good, but little like a mead with berries and concord grapes dominant. Not dry at all. Lasting prune finish. Were it a jam or jelly, it would be great on a biscuit. Similar to Manischewitz wine, but not as cloying. I think it is ok, but it will not appeal to beer OR wine connoisseurs. Mead fans will certainly not like it.

a bit astringent in both aroma and taste. While it is sweet with honey and elderberry. the taste is so saturated with unpleasant flavors. drink it only if you got.

The aroma is fruity but I am not sure what Elderberries smell like. There is also plenty of funky honey. The appearance is nice and dark purple. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is chalky and thin. I am not crazy about this but it’s better than the cranberry.
