CapFlu (3292), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Aug 22, 2007 (750ml bottle) Sampled at Ciderwinder 4. Courtesy of Oakes. Amber. Most honey aroma of any mead I’ve sampled. Strange texture across the tongue, strong honey and a waxy residue. Odd finish, 12% not detectable. Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2007 Bottle from Belmont Station Deep gold colour. Still. Some legs. The aroma is honeyish and toasty. There’s sort of a stewed pear note to it. Flavour is the same, with the same stewed fruit note and the toast, the latter of which I find rather unpleasant. Ruins the drink for me, really. Tmoney99 (3540), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jun 12, 2007 Bottle from Jungle Jim’s. Poured clear pale color with good legs. Light honey citurs aroma. Light to medium body with a dry texture. Medium honey sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. May expectations were met. tronraner (1410), (Louis-, Sevier-, Knox-)ville, Tennessee, USA Jun 9, 2007 750 mL bottle. Pours clear yellow with very thin legs. The aroma is pretty simple light honey, some alcohol, a sort of sour apple tone, and maybe orange zest. The flavor is very mellow and floral, with some clover and hints of orange blossom. There are some very mild woody hints toward the middle, and a nice smooth dry-out into the finish. Not very complex, but solid and drinkable. Palidor19 (1279), Brandon, Florida, USA Feb 20, 2007 This is my first attempt at a dry mead. The aroma has some sweetness to it. slight taste of vanilla and floral flavors.
